Housing Framework

Working with Hays Social Housing and a number of key employers Asset Skills has developed a Competency Framework that highlights the generic skills needed for housing management roles within the industry.

The aim of this competency framework is to enable anyone, regardless of sector or industry background, to be able to fulfil the duties of, say, a front line Housing Officer or Housing Manager if they can demonstrate that they have the individual competencies in place. Employers will be able to provide housing specific training either in-house or through an external provider as part of a recruit’s induction and personal development plan.

We envisage that this new and innovative approach to organizational competencies will encourage people into the sector who have traditionally considered they may not be suitable, due to not having the appropriate working knowledge of housing.
