The Sector Skills Council for the places where we live and work
A Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) is a national agreement between employers, their sector skills council, government departments and other partners like the Skills Funding Agency, higher education bodies, Trades Union Congress, Confederation of British Industry and the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. Each SSC has reached agreement with these organisations to ensure "the skills the sector needs are the skills the sector gets".
Some of the outcomes of this work include apprenticeship frameworks, establishing centres of excellence, providing specific types of business development for employers, giving information, advice and guidance to professionals and offering information on progression and transferability routes within each sector.
The SSA consists of the following five phases. For further information and research reports please click on each of the following links.
