The Sector Skills Council for the places where we live and work
In 2009 Asset Skills reviewed the National Occupational Standards (NOS) relevant for those facilities management managers performing functions at Level 4 within the national standards framework.
Achievement at Level 4 reflects the ability to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to address problems that are well defined but complex and non-routine. It includes taking responsibility for overall courses of action as well as exercising autonomy and judgement within broad parameters. It also reflects understanding of different perspectives and approaches within an area of study or work.
A new system of qualifications is being developed based on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) which takes the NOS and represents them in units with Learning Outcomes and related Assessment Criteria rather than in Performance Criteria and Knowledge and Understanding under the old system.
The Facilities Management NOS relevant to Level 4 functions have been converted into the relevant QCF units and the purpose of this consultation is to ensure that the resulting units and proposed qualifications structure are fit for purpose.
We would be most grateful if you could spend some time in reviewing the QCF Units (click to view PDF) and the Proposed Qualifications Structure (click to view PDF). If you would like any further information please email: dbell@assetskills.org
Thank you for your time and expertise!
