At Asset Skills we recognise this is a challenging time for the property industry. We have secured funding from the Northern Ireland Executive to pay half the NFOPP Technical Award costs for 100 property professionals across Northern Ireland.

The Technical Awards are available in:

• Sale of Residential Property
• Residential Letting and Property Management

They are Level 3 qualifications within the National Qualifications Framework, which means they are broadly equivalent to A-Level standard. Click here for details of the qualification syllabus.

The Technical Award course is flexible and designed to fit into the busy lives of property professionals. It can be studied from home or the office by using open learning materials. A study plan will be provided and regular contact will be made with the Asset Skills Project Support Manager who can offer support and ensure trainees stay on track.

As a general guide, we expect that those who have been working within an agency for some time will need about 60 hours of study, while those who are new to the profession about 150 hours.

The Technical Awards are divided into four units (Click here for details of the qualification syllabus). Each unit is assessed by a multiple-choice exam which is taken on a computer at a test centre. Each exam comprises 20 multiple-choice questions which must be answered within 30 minutes.

When the studies have been completed and learners are ready to sit the exam, they can book them using the NFOPP's on-line booking system. This gives candidates the choice of the date and location of their examination, which can be taken at a number of test centres in Wales,and are available during working hours.

Costs

Asset Skills and the NFOPP, working together with the Northern Ireland Executive, have secured a 50% discount for agents in northern Ireland undertaking the Technical Award qualifications and the costs will be as follows:

Further qualifications

Success in the Technical Awards is the first step in gaining qualifications in your profession. You may wish to develop your skills and knowledge further by proceeding to other relevant qualifications. Apprenticeship programmes are available for Estate Agency and the NFOPP Awarding Body offers advanced qualifications in a range of subjects. The knowledge you have gained for your Technical Award and your experience in agency will stand you in good stead for more advanced studies.
