A new careers website dedicated to promoting jobs and training in facilities management, property, energy assessment, housing, cleaning and parking has been launched by Asset Skills.
The site - at www.assetskills.org/careers - contains a wide range of material from career guides, job profiles and case studies, to industry-specific labour market information suitable for careers advisers.
The information is open-access, free to download, easy to navigate and appropriate for people of all ages. Users can research careers and obtain one-to-one careers information and advice from an in-house careers service (by phone or email).
"Our new careers site is part of continued efforts to promote careers across our sector to young people," said Sarah Bentley, Chief Executive of Asset Skills, the sector skills council for the above industries.
"We will be promoting the site in schools and to work-related learning contacts. By the end of the year, we hope most schools in the UK will be accessing and using this excellent online careers advice and information.
"This is just a taster of things to come from our careers and information, advice and guidance programme. The next stage is to increase the number of employers getting involved with schools with the aim of reducing the gap between education and employment."
This programme has received co-investment from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills through the Employer Investment Fund.
