Training for property professionals in Wales

Asset Skills aims to double number of staff with industry qualification

Jan 2009

A project to train estate and letting agents in Wales has been officially launched by Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) Deputy Minister for Skills, John Griffiths AM.

Under the scheme, 150 property professionals will get half their course and exam fees paid for after Asset Skills, the Sector Skills Council for the property industry, secured funding as part of the WAG's Step Up Sector programme.PropertyProfessionalsLaunch

The industry-related qualifications on offer include the Technical Award Sale of Residential Property and Residential Letting and Property Management run by the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP) awarding body.

Awards in Auctioneering and Commercial Property can also be studied.

The Technical Awards are part of the Apprenticeship framework and are the qualifications of choice in the industry.

Research by Asset Skills has highlighted a need for minimum standards within estate agency to both professionalise and enhance public perception of the industry and the funding in Wales will support this.

This programme will provide support for trainees to ensure as high a take up and success rate as possible and there are hopes it will double the number of qualified staff in Wales. Anyone interested can now register for funding.

For further information please contact Gail Fleming on 01887 829171.  Please note that registrations for this have now closed.
