Northern Ireland Housing Executive

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) is Northern Ireland's largest single comprehensive regional housing authority.

It is a non-departmental public body that was originally established by the Housing Executive Act (Northern Ireland) 1971. It currently owns almost 100,000 homes and employs over 3,000 staff.

In addition, the Housing Executive is Northern Ireland's Home Energy Conservation Authority and administers the Housing Benefit Scheme which provides help with rent to people on low incomes.
