Wherever you are in your career, continually developing and learning new skills is key to feeling a sense of success and achievement. It will also help to open doors and present new opportunities. Self development shows that you are committed to your career and to providing the best possible service to your customers.
If you are interested in learning new skills you should talk to your line manager and also the Learning and Development team within your organisation. If you have a Personal Development Plan make sure that you and your manager agree and commit to a plan that you feel is right for you and that will provide you with the skills you need to do your job better.
There are a range of professional development options available. Some of them may be available through the Post Entry Training Facility (PETF) in your organisation. This means that your organisation may sponsor you, pay the course fees, provide a book allowance, allow day release and provide study leave.
