Government Departments |

|
Communities and Local Government is the Government department that sets policy on local government, housing, urban regeneration, planning and fire and rescue. They have responsibility for all race equality and community cohesion related issues in England and for building regulations, fire safety and some housing issues in England and Wales. The rest of their work applies only to England. |

Homes and Communities Agency is the national housing and regeneration agency that will brings together responsibility for both the land and the money to deliver new housing, community facilities and infrastructure. The HCA was formed on 1 December 2008 through the transfer of the functions and assets of English Partnerships; the investment functions of the Housing Corporation; a number of delivery programmes from Communities and Local Government and the transfer of the Academy for Sustainable Communities. |
