Delivery of Employment and skills through public procurement of social housing

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is responsible for managing the public procurement and delivery of social housing in England. The HCA is currently embedding employment and training initiatives in their operations so that investment in housing and communities also provides job and training opportunities for local people.

Providing apprenticeship and employment schemes is a condition of receiving HCA investment through their place making activities.

In addition the HCA is supporting their partners to create and maintain employment and training initiatives through guidance and toolkits that were presented at regional workshops.

For more information about how the housing apprenticeships can contribute to meeting the employment and skills requirements, of the Homes and Communities Agency, please contact Catharine Hinton chinton@assetskills.org

Further information on the toolkits, and the more general information on the HCA's approach to embedding employment and training initiatives through public procurement, can be found on their website at http://www.homesandcommunities.co.uk/Employment
