The Sector Skills Council for the places where we live and work
The coalition government is committed to reducing UK greenhouse gas emissions by 34% by 2020 and 80% by 2050.
Within the built environment, government initiatives such as Feed in Tariffs, the Renewable Heat Incentive and particularly the Green Deal demonstrate a wider commitment to not only reducing carbon emissions, but also cutting energy costs, improving energy efficiency and tackling fuel poverty.
The emerging new training, qualifications and certification arrangements are designed to provide an appropriately skilled workforce to implement these initiatives to a consistently high standard while creating jobs and assisting economic recovery.
Asset Skills is working, in conjunction with the government and other Sector Skills Councils, to develop new qualifications, pilot training programmes and facilitate existing low carbon training.
The section contain information on Green Skills projects currently underway with Asset Skills. Some of them will require input from informed professionals working within the built environment and energy industries. Please use the menu on the left hand side to find out more.
