The Sector Skills Council for the places where we live and work

The Green Deal Skills Alliance

Working across the built environment

As part of the Employer Investment Fund, Asset Skills is working with two other Sector Skills Councils, Construction Skills and Summit Skills, to form the Green Deal Skills Alliance.

The Alliance was official launched by Climate Change Minister, Greg Barker, in January 2012 to ensure the UK has the right skills to implement the Green Deal, the government's flagship policy to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. Read more about the launch here.

The success of the Green Deal process requires an accredited and qualified assessment and installation workforce.

The Skills Alliance is drawing upon the different SSC footprints to develop and implement the Green Deal Competency Framework.  This framework will develop a holistic set of common standards to sit across Green Deal assessment and installation.

The Framework will also tackle a wider remit of issues surrounding Green Deal implementation. A series of free events called Green Deal Connections have taken place, to raise skills awareness and help facilitate the Green Deal process.

The next series of events, Green Deal Directions, are now open for registration.  The events will give up-to-date advice on the skills, training and qualifications needed for the Green Deal.  More information is available here.
