Cleaning

Asset Skills is working closely with employers and the main cleaning trade bodies to help boost this sector's image.

Cleaning is often seen as a dead end job, but it can offer a viable career with clear paths of progression.

Training is important - cleaners deal with hazardous chemicals every day and it is crucial to have a workforce with the skills to carry out duties safely and effectively. Plus it is also important they have the right customer care skills as often they are in contact with customers on a daily basis.

The Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) is an in depth piece of research we carried out which identified a clear need to address issues like high turnover in the industry. It also showed there was a lack of awareness of the different career routes open within cleaning.
