Since the project's launch Asset Skills has met with many companies to discuss skills shortages and issues affecting women from developing their career. This information has been used to target grants which will best support the company's expressed needs. The Asset Skills Account Manager will then prepare a formal offer and work with the company to provide support and advice through each stage of the process.
The key strands that have been identified are:
To help address this need the project is providing support to employers in the form of a grant to fund training and development for female employees lacking and requiring these skills.
Several companies have also identified a need for support to develop Information Technology skills in their workforce, recognising that gaining these skills will have a positive impact on the efficiency and profitability of their organisation.
Others contacted by the specialist team have identified an urgent need to work on the skills development of first line mangers and team leaders which will provide the soft skills needed to undertake their job efficiently and effectively.
The Women and Work project's main aim is to focus on skills shortage in areas which are relevant to employers and assisting in areas which have a direct impact on the business.
