The UK Academy will work to strengthen higher education provision through direct liaison with universities, professional bodies and employers, and will identify opportunities to develop graduate work placement schemes with associated funding. A twice yearly forum will be established in 2011 to enable HE providers, professional bodies and employers to share experiences and establish productive partnerships.
The Academy will promote career pathways into the Business Services/Facilities Management sector at career fairs, conferences and through direct contact with schools. Where possible, the Academy will also work in partnership with professional bodies to promote wider access to membership, greater recognition of National Occupational Standards and nationally accredited qualifications.
Through the structure of the UK Academy, Asset Skills will conduct a feasibility study into the potential for a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Facilities Management and will encourage links between level 3 providers in the Academy and HE providers.
We will establish a steering group in 2011 comprising employers, providers, awarding organisations and agencies to confirm:
• The potential content of the qualification
• Assessment criteria
• Delivery models
• Interest from awarding bodies and providers
• Potential demand from employers.
If the outcome of the feasibility study is favourable, we will work with the National Apprenticeship Service to identify funding to support the development of the full qualification and regionalised pilots.
